All About That Base

I think the makeup base can either make or break my entire look. Sometimes I have bad skin days, where my skin just doesn't like anything on it. Here are a few of my favourite base products that I use on those kinds of days where nothing seems to be going right.

First of all - primer. I love The Body Shop All-In-One Insta Blur. It is a silicone based primer that just glides over the skin perfecting any little bumps on the surface. It makes the foundation and concealer last a lot longer too. Whilst literally blurring imperfections, it acts as a real life Instagram filter!

For foundation, I am enjoying using the Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation. It isn't completely matte as it does have hydrating properties but it does have a powder finish. The coverage is buildable but I like applying a little dollop for medium coverage - a little bit of this goes a very long way. I like applying this with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush as it allows me to buff it into the skin for a flawless finish.

For concealer, I like spot treating any problem areas with the Clarins Concealer Stick. It is the exact shade for my skin and really helps to cover darkness, redness and general pigmentation that I may have. I usually use the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to apply the product but it also works great with fingers.

Finally, to finish off the base makeup I set it with some powder. Sadly, my usual Rimmel Stay Matte Powder smashed to pieces, so I began using the NYX HD Finishing Powder in Translucent. I am in love! I would have never thought that I'd like a translucent powder but it is great, especially for a less cakey appearance! Highly recommend if you are after a new powder.

And there are my current go-to base products for a flawless face. What are your favourites?
