Travel Makeup Picks // The Hand Luggage Edit

A few weeks back I was in sunny Spain, walking the streets of Barcelona and eating all the delicious food (read the post here). I booked this trip quite spontaneously and decided to travel with hand luggage too. I'm fine with narrowing down clothes and shoes but it's the liquid restriction on flights that always gets me!

So to cut down on my liquid allowance and avoiding getting anything confiscated at the airport, I decided to minimise my makeup stash. Liquid foundation, concealer, liquid highlight, mascara, liquid lipstick and brow gel all counts as a liquid! I decided to make sacrifices towards certain things and narrowed down a very concise(ish) makeup bag...

If you are wondering where the makeup bag is from, it is actually from New Look a while back! They generally have some great little pouches and bags for everyday use or travel. Plus, they look pretty!

Moving onto the makeup picks...

I am not to fussed about wearing a tonne of makeup on holiday, especially if I am only going for a few days. So I decided to take a concealer for selective coverage and a mineral powder foundation.

The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer is a cult classic and understandably so! I love how creamy it is and how it actually gives me great coverage in specific areas. I also love The Body Shop Extra Virgin Mineral Foundation (which seems to have disappeared off their website so I hope it hasn't been discontinued!!) as this mattifies and gives a bit of extra coverage.

For cheek products I decided to keep it simple with a contour powder, highlight and blush.

I recently bought the NYX High Definition Blush in the shade Taupe and it works perfectly as a contour shade! For highlighter, the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Global Glow is my favourite for the summer months as it is very warm toned. Finally, for blusher I went for the Maxfactor Creme Puff Blusher in Gorgeous Berries. It gives a really lovely flush of colour to the cheeks.

For brows, I decided to take the SportFX Shape Up Brow Pencil in Brunette. I got this in a Glossybox and it is supposed to hold up well for sportswomen so I thought it'd do the same on a holiday!

For mascara, I knew I wanted something waterproof so I decided to take the Kiko Luxurious Lashes Waterproof Mascara. I picked this up for £3.90 in the sale and it gives quite a natural look rather than a bold look.

For lips I wanted to take one bold lip colour and one day-time shade. I settled on The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick in Coral Cutie for my bolder look. It is a lovely coral orange shade that screams summer to me. For the more everyday colour, I went for the GOSH Velvet Touch Lipstick in the shade Delicious as it is a pretty pink colour.

And those are the makeup products I took on my little adventure to Barcelona!

What would you take?

  1. You did so great in packing the essentials, I feel that I always overpack when I go on a trip especially when it comes to skincare and make up products. And that max factor blush is so pretty it looks like an hourglass one.

  3. Great post and I'm just the same, I don't really care about clothes, but skincare and makeup is where I truly struggle when it comes to packing, hand luggage only or not! A mineral powder foundation is such a great idea, though! Lovely picks :)

  11. I love love love the max factor cream puff blushes! I finally purchased the other 3 shades and now I have all 5. They are the closest I'll get to hourglass blushes because I cannot currently justify the price tag of the hourglass haah.
