Why I Loved #GirlBoss

Oh my gosh... a book review. This is a loooong time coming, I know. I have been reading #GirlBoss on and off for the past few *ahem* months. Okay so.. I'm not much of a book reader, if you couldn't tell already, but I know that there are some great books out there! One of my New Years resolutions was to read more. So voila... here we have a book review.

I began reading #GirlBoss after I had just finished my degree at university and was in that awkward in-between stage of finalising assignments and actually graduating. Honestly, I felt a little lost and unmotivated as the job rejection emails just kept piling up in my inbox. I spent hours each day applying to all the graduate jobs only to get the 'unfortunately you have not been successful' response.  There was a point where I began to think I was never going to get hired and I'm a failure at life. I felt like I'd wasted three years at university for absolutely nada.

And then... there was a light at the end of the tunnel. A ray of hope, inspiration and motivation sprung upon me. Sophia Amoruso's #GirlBoss is a reminder that anyone can do anything as long as they put their all into it. Sophia's story is inspiring, to say the least. She had been through a lot to get where she is now. Or at least when the book was published. But nonetheless, her story was real and it happened to her and it could happen to anyone. It could happen to you. It could happen to me.

Success is in the hands of the person who really wants it. You must believe in yourself wholeheartedly for you to be successful. You must strive to achieve more each day. You must work harder to get to where you want to be.

You. Must. Not. Give. Up.

That's what #GirlBoss taught me. The name suggests it is a feminist movement and yes, it kind of is to a certain extent. But it's proving how women can break boundaries and stereotypes. It shows that we are capable of anything and everything. It is showcasing how this is not just a success story... it is how someone turned their life around. And that can happen to anyone.

If I haven't managed to convince you to read the book yet... you can read Maria's post about it here! She has a way with words that lady!

Have you read #GirlBoss... What were your thoughts?
