Whenever I open my skincare cupboard and look at my
collection of oils, serums and creams, I always find I’m reaching for certain
products. In terms of facial oils, there are currently five different ones I’m
rotating between, depending on what my skin is like that day.
My skin is pretty much always dry and dehydrated but
sometimes my eczema flares up and I need something with more punch. I thought that
by sharing what products work for my skin, it may help those struggling with
the same skin challenges.
Palmer's Skin Therapy Oil | £10.49
A few months back I noticed the Palmers Skin Therapy Oil on
the shelves of my local Boots and I was intrigued to try it out. The oil
contains key ingredients like retinol to target fine lines and vitamin C to
brighten an uneven skin tone. I’m currently going through phases where my skin
appears uneven because of my eczema patches so I was hoping this product would
help overcome that issue as well as lock in some much needed moisture.
And that is exactly what the oil offers – hydration and a
more even skin tone. I can’t comment on the fine lines element much as I’m only
in my twenties but if you are looking for a product that targets ageing skin, I
would definitely recommend this one! I must note that this is one of those typical
greasy oils so definitely one to include in your evening routine.
This oil also contains vitamin A (retinol) and vitamin C but
with the added addition of rose, it keeps the skin calm and less irritated. I’m
not going to lie, I’ve never been a fan of rose in skincare mostly because I’m
not too keen on the smell but also because I feel like it is associated with
the older generation. However, I’ve become more open over the past year in
terms of trying products with rose as it is meant to be a great ingredient to
help with irritated and sensitive skin, both of which I sometimes struggle with
due to my eczema.
Anyway, I like to use this product when my skin is feeling
quite irritable. So I apply a few drops as part of my evening routine and pat
it into my skin, rather than smearing it around. My skin is normally left with
visible dry patches in the morning but this product eliminates that and leaves
it feeling soft and supple. Another benefit of this product is that it isn’t a
greasy oil and is very lightweight allowing it to melt into the skin easily.
Coconut Oil
For a natural option, I really enjoy using coconut oil as a
treatment. Coconut oil can hydrate the skin for 24 hours and also contains vitamin
A and vitamin E, both of which help with anti-ageing. So coconut oil is a great
alternative for a product that will help improve skin elasticity and collagen
production. It also benefits from being a multipurpose product which you can
use on your face, body and hair.
I’ve banged on and on about this product on my blog because
it actually works! A lot of you may have heard of the brand The Ordinary for offering
targeted skincare at an affordable price. Their product range includes pure
ingredients that are aimed at specific skin concerns. I found the 100% Plant
Derived Squalane a few years ago when I was just discovering the brand and I
have been using it ever since.
Squalane is naturally found in the skin and has powerful
hydration properties. The Plant Derived Squalane is extracted from plants like
sugar cane and is renowned for its antioxidant and moisturising benefits. I
apply this on my skin after my serum as a boost of hydration and it always
works great.

Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil | £34
Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil | £34
I got a couple of samples of this oil and I've used it a few times now but so far so good! It not only smells amazing but it also hydrates the skin from within. You only need a few drops but a little goes a very long way.
