The Beauty Glow Edit

Summertime means the comeback of fresh faced make up, dewy skin and all the glow. Until a few months ago, I'd never really bought or looked into products that encourage glowy skin so now that I've tried and tested them, I wanted to share with those also looking to achieve the same look this summer.

Before we get into them I wanted to make a quick disclaimer that I have extremely dry / eczema-prone skin so these products are suitable for those with the same or similar skin type but may also be great for those with oily or spot-prone skin, but unfortunately I can't confirm this.

So first things first, I think that if you can try and get a natural glow from your skin, not that much make up is needed. Starting with skincare, I did a bit of research into ingredients to look for in skincare products that can help with glow. The top ones that came up were Vitamin C, Retinol (Vitamin A), SPF and any form of exfoliant. Keeping this in mind, I purchased some new skincare, which I'm really impressed with.

I am so pleased I discovered this product because it works instantly! I usually apply this prior to applying make up or as the last step in my morning skincare routine as it leaves my skin looking super glowy and feeling soft. Plus, the smell is super refreshing!

I first assumed that products like this would be too harsh on my skin but this seems to work really well. I use it probably once every fortnight and apply a little blob to my fingertips and massage into my skin. It then starts to peel and bobble off all the dead skin, essentially exfoliating it, and leaves my skin super soft and smooth.

You'd think this post is sponsored by The Body Shop but it's (unfortunately) not! I went on a shopping spree a few months back and purchased a bunch of products including these and some from the Shea Range. Anyway, this is a great SPF for the face and neck. I like how slim the packaging is, it makes it easy to travel with and isn't super bulky in my skincare stash.

So I'm currently using this retinol based cream every few days as a night treatment - you can use this in the day but SPF is recommended as the reaction can be quite harsh on the skin. Previously I've enjoyed The Ordinary 0.2% Retinol in Squalane.

Make up wise, I've really been enjoying the No7 Skin Illuminator. I've had this small tube for a few months and a little really does go a long way. I'm on the hunt for more inexpensive liquid highlighters so if you know any, please comment below! Also, the MAC Mineralise Skinfinish in Global Glow is a stunning powder highlight that can be built up from a soft glow to a kapow in your face glow.

I also think that a lighter base helps with a natural and dewy look. I'd really recommend The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream but I know they have a lot of different products that offer a lighter base.

What are your glow-giving favourite products?
