Skincare On Trial | Lumene

Over the past few months, I've heard a lot of great things and rave reviews about Lumene skincare. Obviously, I wanted to get in and see what the hype was all about so I placed a little order and have been trialling a few products for about 6 weeks now. I feel like I have made up my mind on certain products so I wanted to share a review with you. For context, my skin type is dry, dehydrated and sensitive, so the products I've picked were specifically to target my skin concerns.

Lumene Nordic-C Clear Glow Cleansing Gel Scrub

I purchased this because it's described as a gentle yet deep exfoliator, which is currently missing from my skincare product collection. I have many chemical exfoliants, but it has been a while since I've used a physical exfoliator and wanted to give it a chance. The product is suitable for all skin types, contains biodegradable beads (amazing!) and vitamin C, which offers radiance - something my dry and dehydrated skin is seriously lacking. It's also 100% vegan and 95% contains naturally derived ingredients.

I've been using this very sparingly as my skin is quite sensitive and won't be used to the texture of a product like this, even if it is gentle. So I use it every few days, usually in the shower so I can scrub the product off my skin easily. I did find that the product is a little harsh for my skin type so it will take me a while to use up at this rate. It does make my skin feel very cleansed, which will be nice on days that I wear make up or feel like my face needs a deep clean.

Lumene Nordic Hydra Arctic Aqua Foaming Cleanser

Again, I was drawn to this because it was a product I've always been intrigued by but haven't tried yet. It's a foam cleanser, which is suitable for all skin types, but is part of the 'hydration' range. It's soap-free, which I've heard would be great for my skin type, removes impurities and supposedly leaves the skin feeling clean and refreshed.

I do agree that the product is gentle and cleansing, I really liked how it made my skin feel. I also like how the product is a foam texture as it feels great on the skin and doesn't strip the skin completely, leaving it dry. Again, due to my sensitive skin type, I don't think I can use this everyday, but it's a great option for using every few days. This product is also 100% vegan and contains 77% naturally derived ingredients.

Lumene Nordic Hydra Aqua Lumenessence Beauty Lotion

Containing hyaluronic acid, pure arctic spring water and Nordic algae, this product aims to hydrate the skin allowing it to feel dewy and plumped after use. I like to apply this to a cotton pad and swipe it across my face and neck, morning and night.

I definitely think that the product is gentle enough, even for my sensitive and dry skin type. I feel like it leaves my skin feeling refreshed and clean, ready for the next step in my beauty routine. It's a great, simple product that would work for many skin types, not just dry skin. It's also made from 96% naturally derived ingredients.

Lumene Nordic Hydra Intense Hydration 24H Moisturiser

I'm always on the lookout for a face cream that leaves my skin feeling hydrated and nourished so I thought this would be a great product to add to my collection. It's a fresh, lightweight cream that is supposed to provide all-day hydration after application.

I don't agree with the '24-hour hydration' claim, but I don't think I believe that claim for any product I've tried, to be honest. I do think that the product is a nice and light everyday cream that provides a great base for whatever you apply next. The scent is a bit strong for my liking (I'm not sure if it's a natural scent or additional) and I have noticed a bit of sensitivity on areas where I have broken skin. So I've been focusing the product on areas where my skin isn't extremely dry or sensitive or using it on 'better' skin days.

Have you tried any Lumene skincare? I'd love to hear your recommendations and thoughts!

  1. I don't think that "24H Moisturiser" claims to moisturise for 24 hours (on one application), at least I have never interpreted it so. I've always understood it to mean that it (and others like it over the years) is not specifically a day or a night cream, that it can to be used in the morning or at night or both, for all 24 hours of the day. Other Lumene moisturisers usually spefify that they are day or night products and have SPF or other ingredients more suited to be used during that time of the day.

Also I have to say that if you have a dry and sensitive skin, those products wouldn't be the ones I would first recommend to you from the Lumene products, maybe apart from the Beauty Lotion that I do like myself, as well. (I have a normal/oily skin.) Personally I like to apply it with my hands, I feel like I get more product on my face that way.
